Changing The Narrative On Our Self-Confidence Crisis

It’s totally normal for self-doubt to sneak up on us every now and again. Or to have those niggling questions about whether we’re doing a good job at school or work. But a Censuswide survey has revealed some seriously shocking statistics about how women in the UK view themselves.

Surveying 2000 adults, it found that:

Changing The Narrative On Our Self-Confidence Crisis

These staggering statistics suggest that 4 in every 5 women don’t feel confident in their appearance. And it’s not just appearance; women are doubting their intelligence, likeability and potential to excel in their careers. The bottomline? Women don’t believe they’re good enough.

Worryingly, it seems like this problem gets worse with age. In fact, only 1 in every 10 people over 45 think they are attractive. This means that 90% of over 45s don’t like what they see when they look in the mirror.

With impossible beauty standards coming at us from every angle, it’s hardly surprising that women are equating the size, shape and age of their bodies to their self-worth.

But the truly sad thing is, this lack of confidence robs women of opportunities. We’re less likely to try something new, reach for that promotion or make that great business idea happen when deep down we don’t feel good enough. Instead, we cling to our comfort zones and the world misses out on our full potential.

That’s why, here at Sundaise, we’re on a mission to change the not-good-enough narrative.

We want to help build a world where everyone feels bold and beautiful in their own skin. To celebrate themselves exactly as they are: not waiting for when they’ve dropped a dress size, fixed their acne or finally found a face cream to erase those smile lines.

There’s no such thing as the right age, shape or size to wear the things you love. It’s why we make clothes for everyone and everybody. And although you’re so much more than what you wear, it can be a great place to start.

We’re here for unapologetically wearing that boldest print and throwing on whatever helps you move through your day in comfort. Having a closet full of things that make you feel great and put you in the mood to conquer anything the day throws at you. Because the truth is, the world deserves you in full colour.

So, let’s show ourselves a little kindness and shake up the not-good-enough narrative. We all have the right to feel great about who we are!
